Seminole â€” Leola Maxine Weburg, 91, of Seminole passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 in Seminole. She was born July 27, 1922 in Salina, Kan. to Norton and Elisabeth Weburg. Leola was employed as a Lab Technician for many years in Salina, Kan. She moved from Salina, Kan. to Sweetwater in 1984 to be near her sister and in 2010 she moved to Seminole, Texas. Leola enjoyed her family, traveling, golf and photography.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Dahl in 2010 and Natnalie Oâ€™Neal.
Paula MuĂ±oz, 92, left this earth for her Heavenly Home on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 in Sweetwater surrounded by her family.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Charles Okonkwo will officiate. Interment will follow at the Loraine Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary was said at McCoy Chapel of Memories on Sunday evening, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.
Wes Bishop and his wife, Margaret, moved to Sweetwater on Sept. 1, 1977, to become the first Director of Physical Therapy at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, where he served for nearly 36 years, until poor health recently forced him to step down. He was instrumental in the planning, fundraising and development of two new physical therapy departments, going from a two hundred square foot department in 1977, to a 2,000 square foot department in 1982, to a 6,000 square foot, state-of-the-art complex in 1998. He was the first recipient at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital of the prestigious Dr.

Stanley Ford in Sweetwater is inviting the public to the dealership at 8 a.m. on Saturday, as they will be providing ID and fingerprints for all children, free of charge.

Texas Railroad Commissioner, Christi Craddick, spoke Wednesday at the first Shale Show, held at the Nolan County Coliseum in Sweetwater. Craddick, who has West Texas ties, expressed her gratitude for being asked to speak at the event and also her excitement with the developments of the new Cline Shale, and with the continuing progress of established shales, which has contributed $12 billion in industry to the state of Texas.
The Highland freshman class will be hosting an evening skeet shoot tonight beginning at 8 p.m. The event will be at the 4H Shooting Range.
A stocked concession stand will be serving the following items: Sausage wraps, candy, homemade desserts, sodas, chips and coffee.
Cost will be $10 per round, per person. (Each round is approximately 25 shots.) Chances will be available on a Barnett â€śJackalâ€ť crossbow.
Participants must provide their own eye and ear protection.
The local Wal-Mart recently donated 20 gift cards to teachers at Sweetwater Middle School. The names were drawn randomly.

Services for Veldon Levon Jeter, 77, of Brownfield, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the Brownfield Church of Christ with Bo Shero officiating. Burial will follow at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
