Bettye Scott, age 68, of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Bettye was born on April 8, 1945 in Hubbard, Texas to R. K. and Elvan (Smith) Jackson. She married Eugene Scott, Sr. on April 22, 1965 in Sweetwater. She worked for U.S. Gypsum for 22 years before retiring.

Texas State Technical College West Texas has been named to the coveted Military Friendly SchoolsÂ® list for the fourth year in a row. The annual list is compiled by Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The 2014 Military Friendly SchoolsÂ® list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace Americaâ€™s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
