County Commissioners held a meeting on Monday afternoon with representatives of Turner Construction and Wiginton Hooker Jeffry Architects (WHJ) to discuss the continuing construction on the Nolan County Courthouse and new jail/Sheriff's office.
Many students gathered this morning at Sweetwater High School for the annual See You At The Pole (SYATP) event.
Each year, more than three million students from all over the world participate in See You at the Pole.
A proposal for a modernization project for the Buzzi Unicem plant in Maryneal was presented to two groups on Monday--the Nolan County Commissioners and the board of directors of the Nolan County Hospital District (NCHD).
The presentation offered a recap of the previous project in Maryneal, an update on the industry as a whole, a group overview of Buzzi Unicem USA, the current status of the plant, and the proposed project.
A groundbreaking ceremony took place Tuesday morning at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital for their new Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.
Hospital Board members Kirby Andrews, Steve Holcomb, Jose Villafranca, Vickie May and Cheyenne Smith, along with Donna Boatright, Hospital Administrator, and Wes Stafford, Director of Cardiac Rehab, threw the first shovelful of dirt with golden shovels to mark the occasion.
Hospital Department Managers, Chamber of Commerce members and community members attended the ceremony as well.
Don Creed passed away Sept. 21, 2013 at Elk City, Okla. at the age of 67 years, six months and 18 days.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

A memorial service for Van Clinton Conard, 75, of Snyder and former resident of Melrose, N.M. will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Snyder. Arrangements are under the direction of Agape Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Former Roscoe athlete Caden Smith has recently been awarded a full athletic scholarship by Texas A&M University, where he is a sophomore member of the team.
Smith was a redshirt freshman at A&M in the same class as Johnny Manziel his first season after making the team as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot-3, 259-pound lineman has played in all four games this season for the 3-1 Aggies, ranked No. 10 in this weekâs Associated Press poll.
Kaleb Hoover is the Foot-ball Player of the Week for Sweetwater.
Hoover caught six passes for 103 yards and one touchdown in the Mustangsâ 42-28 loss to Wall.
On defense, he had five solo tackles and assisted on seven oth-ers, caused one fumble, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass.
Exactly one week after winning a five-game match at Miles, Sweetwater went the distance again Tuesday vs. Levelland at home only to lose 3-2 (25-18, 25-23, 13-25, 24-26 and 14-16) in their final tuneup for the start of District 4-3A play that begins Saturday.
Sweetwater, now 9-15, surrendered a 13-7 lead in the fifth and decisive game after giving up a 2-0 overall lead by losing the third and fourth games.
