"When we're done here, it's going to be a nice spot to sit and relax," said Coach Tony Cortez, SMS athletic director.
A special-called meeting of the Nolan County Commissioners was held on Tuesday, in which approval was given toward the purchase of a financial package software upgrade for the county auditor and county treasurer.
The current system has been in place since 1985, thus becoming outdated and no longer having the ability for significant upgrades. After reviewing up to five different software options, the software provided by STW, Inc. was selected.
Future hospital facility plans were discussed during the August meeting of the Nolan County Hospital District board of directors.
Among the items, a follow-up report on the Cardiac Rehab project was given by David White of McKinstry, the company overseeing the construction. After receiving feedback from the board, around $83,000 was cut on the project, bringing the total cost of the building to just over $1.7 million.

The newly-named 2013 Shale Show Sammy Baugh Classic begins this weekend at Mustang Bowl with a new sponsor and — at least for this year — a new and rather unique scheduling setup.
A total of three games will be played this year in the Classic, which is now in its ninth year. But instead of having its traditional Thursday through Saturday lineup, all games at the 2013 event will be played on the weekend — starting with the opening game at 11 a.m. Saturday between Quanah and Miles.
For the first time, the Classic is on two weekends.

Fire departments that helped to extinguish the blaze include the Sweetwater Fire Department, Roscoe VFD, Lake Sweetwater VFD, Maryneal VFD and Nolan VFD. Nolan County workers and members of the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the blaze.
The fire was said to be started by a train.
