Join Sweetwater for a fun-filled day of shopping. This year's "Parade of Lights" will be at 6:30 p.m. this evening. The parade will start at Higginbotham's and end on Ash Street. Participating Chamber members will extend their hours until 8 p.m. for community members to shop Sweetwater. Participating businesses will have a box with Shop Sweetwater cards provided by the Chamber of Commerce. When you shop at any of the participating businesses have them stamp or sign your card. When you have five stamps/signatures, drop the card in one of the boxes.
The Pioneer City-County Museum will be having their annual Christmas Party on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 4:30-7 p.m. at 610 E. Third Street (Ragland House).
The party will be dedicated to Franzas Cupp to honor her more than 20 years of service.
Refreshments will be provided by Aroma's, Sweetwater High School Culinary Department and the Woman's Forum. The Pioneer Museum would like to thank Aroma's for the dessert and the Woman's Forum for all their help and invitations and food.
Several musicians put on a stellar performance at the Texas Theatre in Sweetwater on Saturday evening as part of Bob Livingston's Second Annual West Texas and Beyond Revue. Many attended the event and many danced in the aisles of the theatre as the musicians performed.
The Sweetwater High School Theatre Arts Department, along with several members of the community, performed Copelandâs Christmas Carol this past weekend, accepting non-perishable food items, unwrapped toys and monetary donations as admission for charity.

Updates were heard on various topics by SEED (Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development) staff during the board of directors' meeting on Monday morning.
Ken Becker, the executive director of SEED, shared that the construction work by TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) on Lamar Street was ahead of schedule. The earliest date mentioned for completion was the first part of this summer.
Peggy Ann Sharrock, age 76, of Sweetwater, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Palava Cemetery.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, from 6:30-8 p.m.Â
Manuela Zamora Solano, age 92, was called to her eternal home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. At the hour of her death, she was surrounded by all of her children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating.
A rosary will be held Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Roscoeâs Shelton Toliver is a second team all-state selection at wide receiver-end in Class 1A by the Asso-ciated Press Sports Editors.
Toliver, a senior, was the Plowboysâ top receiver this year with 78 catches for 987 yards and 17 touchdowns.
âI am extremely proud of Shelton and very happy he received such a tremendous honor. He had a great season, â coach Jake Freeman said. âHe was a game chan-ger and made some huge plays for us. He was also a leader both on and off the field. Shelton is a great football player, but heâs an even better young man. He is very deserving of this honor.â
