Fans fill the stands

Sweetwater Mustang and Lady Mustang fans filled the stands on Tuesday evening supporting their basketball teams, as well as the Sweetwater Intermediate School Jump Rope Team.

Presentations heard at county meeting

Discussion was held on plans for developing a large rail terminal on Eskota Road during Monday's meeting of the Nolan County Commissioners.
Steve Roth with USA Rail Terminals made the presentation, as he wanted to familiarize the commissioners with the project. The company has served the oil and gas industry for 20 years, with current projects ongoing in Louisiana and south Texas.

Jump Rope Team performs

The Sweetwater Intermediate School Jump Rope Team had their first performance of the year on Tuesday evening during half time of the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs basketball game.
The team showed their jump rope and dance skills to the crowded gym.

City awards bid for police station construction project

The Sweetwater City Commission met on Tuesday morning, in which Ratcliff Constructors, LP was awarded the bid for the proposed police station construction project.
During the commission meeting held on the 14th, nine bids were submitted and read, in which the selection committee reviewed and scored the bids. While the bid price was the main scoring factor, company experience and their team members were also considered.

SW girls hold off Monahans, 43-39

At this point of the season, Sweetwater High School girls basketball coach Al Miller will take a win — no matter how ugly it is — any way he can get it.
Tuesday’s 43-39 victory over last-place Monahans wasn’t pretty to watch. But it accomplished the desired result nonetheless.
The Lady Mustangs (4-4 in district, 8-12) are tantalizingly close to a second straight playoff berth after moving into outright third place with just two games left in the season.

Mustangs fall to Loboes

Andres Facio’s 27 points led No. 25 Monahans past Sweetwater 56-41 on Tues-day, giving the Mustangs their fourth straight loss in district play.
Sweetwater (1-5) got 13 points from Dylan Bennett but no other Mustangs was able to hit double figures against the Loboes (5-1).
