All four of Sweetwaterâ€™s sub-varsity high school bas-ketball teams lost to Wylie squads on Friday.
The JV girls (1-4) lost 32-21. Kensi Chowning had five points, Marissa San-chez and Jasmine Reddic four and Abby Garcia, Gab-by Fuentes, Payton Moore and Alaina Andrews two.
The JV boys lost to Wylie 55-25 as their district rec-ord dropped to 1-2. Desh-aun Williams led the team with eight points while Den-zell Moore had six, Hardy Escobar five, Michael Law-rence four and Mark Law-rence two.

The winner of tonightâ€™s Sweetwater vs. Big Spring basketball games â€” both of which will be in Big Spring â€” has a chance to break out of a three-team deadlock for third place in District 4-3A.
Tipoff begins at 6:15 p.m. with the girls game, where Sweetwater and Big Spring are both 2-3 in district. And the boys contest between Sweetwater and Big Spring at 7:30 p.m. pits teams that are 1-2 in district play.
On the girls side, Sweet-water and Big Spring are tied with Snyder, which plays at Wylie (5-0) tonight.
Lone Star Ag Credit and Texas Land Bank officially have merged, effective Jan. 1, 2014.Â Stockholders of both rural financing institutions approved the merger by vote in late 2013.
â€¢ The combined lending association will be called Lone Star Ag Credit and will be headquartered in Fort Worth.
The annual Sweetwater Jaycees Miss Snake Charmer Scholarship Pageant is a time where young ladies from throughout the Big Country come together to compete for scholarship money.
The annual pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium. The pageant is open to all girls between the ages of 16-19 who live within a 75 mile radius of Sweetwater.

Seventy-one Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the third six weeks, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the third six seeks were John Clift (9th Grade), Ashleigh Jimenez (10th Grade), Jasmine Reddic (11th Grade) and Ashley Johns (12thGrade). Harold Hopkins, age 94, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Sweetwater High School Spanish Teacher, Tina Melendez was honored as Arrow Ford's Teacher Tribute Winner.Â She was nominated by Joe Alaniz, a sophomore at Sweetwater High School.
