Pauline Lorena Carnathan Hale, age 89, went to be at peace with our Heavenly Father on Nov. 5, 2014.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan with Reverend Bruce Parsons officiating. A family visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at the funeral home. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

New record for Sweetwater Rehab shrimp peel

The West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s Shrimp Peel and Auction at the Sweetwater Country Club raised a record dollar amount this year. Director of Donor Relations for the REHAB Dan Huggins reports that the preliminary total is $64,231. The previous all-time high was in 2012 when the event brought in $61,872. Huggins says that over the last three years the event has brought in over $175,000.

Sweetwater ISD to host community wide pep rally

November 6, 2014

Sweetwater Independent School District announced that they will host a community-wide pep rally on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the parking lot behind the Nolan County Courthouse. The pep rally will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a performance from the high school Pop Sensations followed by the pep rally at 8 p.m.

Safety officers enhance RPMH security

November 6, 2014

As Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital receives upgrades to its facilities, other areas of patient care are also being improved. In order to provide a safe environment for its customers and staff, RPMH has added a three-man security team which will monitor and patrol the 23-acre campus 24 hours per day.

Lamesa is last hurdle to S’water perfection

Thanks to its 44-8 victory over Pecos last week, Sweetwater is the No. 1 seed from District 2-4A, Division II. But the Mustangs want an outright title, and to do that, they still need to beat Lamesa at home on Friday.

Highland shoots for top seed today at Ira

As far as making the playoffs, the suspense is over for Highland and Ira. But tonight’s 7:30 p.m. regular-season finale will decide which of them goes into the postseason as the No. 1 seed and who will be No. 2 out of District 7-1A, Division I.

Roscoe, Blackwell hope to play after this week

Despite losing 33-20 to Menard this past weekend, the Roscoe football team will end its four-year playoff drought with a win over Bronte on Friday.

Today, November 6, the Rolling Plains Unit of Retired School Personnel will hold its monthly meeting at Bee's Flowers and Gifts, at 311 Oak Street, for lunch at 11:30 a.m.
A program and a short business meeting will follow. Zach Wilcox, the Nolan County Agriculture Extension Agent, will speak. All retired school personnel are invited to attend.
