Today, October 28, Nolan Nursing and Rehab, locatedÂ at 705 N.E. GeorgiaÂ will beÂ sponsoring their annual fund raiserÂ Fall Festival carnival from 4-6 p.m.
Funds from the event will be used to support Christmas gifts and activities for the residents of NNR. For more information, call Karla Knight, A.D. at 235-5417.
Also, Avondale Baptist Church, in conjunction with East Ridge PTO, Hoyt Place and KXOX will be hosting the 3rd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Hoyt Street from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be games, candy and fun.

Fifty-seven Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the first six weeks of the 2014-2015 school year, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the first six seeks of the 2014-2015 school year were Mason Maxwell (9th grade), Kensi Chowning (10th grade), Ashleigh Jimenez (11th grade) and Columbus Hickmon (12th grade).

ROSCOE, TEXAS - Funeral services for Jean Nelda (Schoppa) Zetzman, 87, of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sweetwater with Pastor Chester McCown officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Zetzman died Monday, October 27, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
LUBBOCK â€” In its final road match before starting the playoffs next week, the Sweetwater volleyball team clinched the No. 3 berth in District 2-4A Saturday with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 win over Lubbock Estacado. Sweetwater (6-3, 21-12) entertains Big Spring â€” the co-leader at 8-1 â€” Tuesday to end the season. Levelland (8-1) and Snyder (4-5) are also going to the playoffs.

HAMLIN â€” Roscoeâ€™s Lyn-di Wilkinson and Alejandra Solis advanced to regional competition by placing fifth and 10th, respectively, at the district cross country meet in Hamlin. The regio-nal meet will be held Friday in Lubbock. Other Roscoe district results follow:

Sweetwater 7th grade â€˜Aâ€™ and 8th grade â€˜Bâ€™ teams will play at Pecos, 4 p.m.

For all the accomplishments over the first seven games, Sweetwaterâ€™s football team still felt it had something to prove coming into Fridayâ€™s district game against Monahans.
Even with their gaudy 7-0 record, the Mustangs were looking for that knockout punch, that signature victory against a top-caliber opponent to put a punctuation mark on their season.
