This Friday will be Red Night at the Sweetwater Mustang Baseball game against the Wylie Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Those wearing red will get in the game free!
The first 50Â wearing red to enter the game will receive aÂ red ticket at the gate for a free popcorn and soft drink.
At the Monday night meeting of the Nolan County Hospital District's board of directors, approval was given to cancel the board election, due to the fact that there were no opposed candidates.
However, board members will be considering a candidate for a replacement for the unexpired term for District 1 between now and next month's meeting.
Sweetwater Fastpitch Softball Association held its opening ceremonies Saturday at Fraley Park for girls ages 5-14.
A total of 15 teams are participating in the league, which is divided up into five age divisions. Several games were played Saturday at the park following the introduction of each teams' players and coaches.
The Sweetwater ISD Board of Trustees approved a change in the school calendar for the snow/ice make-up days during their meeting held on Thursday night.
Friday, April 18 and Monday, May 26 will now be regular school days for the district instead of the Good Friday and Memorial Day holidays.
Mark Davis Crawford, 58, of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.
He was cremated. No further services are planned.

The long trip to Monahans didnâ€™t have a happy ending for Sweetwaterâ€™s teams on the diamond Tuesday. They will both play host to Wylie when District 4-3A action resumes this Friday.

Sweetwater (15-4, 2-1) dropped out of a tie for first as Monahans led 5-0 after one inning and held on to hand the Mustangs â€” who had won 12 straight â€” their first loss since Feb. 22.
Sweetwater is now tied with Snyder for second with Wylie (3-0) atop 4-3A.
