Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 72. Winds will be from the east-northeast at 10 to 15 mph.
We'll have a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms enter the area tonight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 58. Winds will be from the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Those rain chances will remain throughout the weekend, as high as 50% by Sunday night. Weekend highs will be in the upper 70s/lower 80s, with lows in the low to mid 60s. Winds will vary from the south and southeast from 10 to 15 mph.

If that sounds a bit scary, it's because that's what the teens from the Pentecostal Church of God, located at 310 Pine Street, were going for when they created a silent skit containing such imagery.

WTCAC holds Child Abuse Awareness Banquet

Katie Etringer was the guest speaker at the WTCAC (West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center) Child Abuse Awareness Banquet, held Tuesday night at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. She stressed the importance of having a center like the WTCAC by sharing her own story of how her youngest son was abused and how she dealt with the situation without the assistance of such a facility. Etringer was a founding member of the task force who founded the Children’s Alliance of South Texas and currently sits on its Board of Directors.

Girls sports banquet for SHS set on May 11

A girls sports banquet will be held on May 11 for Sweetwater High School. All SHS girls athletes in volleyball, basketball, soft-ball and track will be recognized at the banquet for their achievements during the 2014-15 school year.

Investigators with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office and the Sweetwater Police Department are actively searching for a 32-year-old fugitive, who’s been hiding to avoid detection by law enforcement. Joshua James Raney, a repeat offender who has compiled several arrests in Nolan County, is now wanted on outstanding warrant #11798 that was issued out of the 32nd Judicial District Court on Feb. 19, for the offense of possession of a controlled substance.
