JV girls drop heartbreaker to Snyder; 9th grade boys win

The Sweetwater junior varsity girls basketball team has posted a perfect record against its District 2-4A opponents this season — except for Snyder. On Tuesday, the Lady Mustangs lost to the Lady Tigers for the second time as they suffered a heartbreaking 33-32 road loss.

Cuellar trial underway

January 28, 2015

After an arduous jury selection process, the trial for Joe Frank Cuellar began Tuesday in the 32nd Judicial District Court.
Cuellar is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault on three separate minor children who were living with Cuellar at his residence in Sweetwater until April 2012.

Christing to perform in Sweetwater

On Saturday night, Jan. 31, 4th and Elm Church of Christ will welcome Christian comedian and illusionist Adam Christing to their campus. He will perform a free show from 7-8 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
"You will need a ticket for entry, but tickets are free for the community. Please check with the church office for picking up your free tickets."

TNB recognizes Heredia with True Texan Award

The True Texan Award is a quarterly award given to Texas National Bank team members who take pride in their work, do what’s best for the team and always put the customer first. Award recipients are given an extra paid day of vacation and a small cash prize. The True Texan for the fourth quarter 2014 is Martha Heredia (shown).

SNYDER — At last, the Sweetwater boys basketball team has a district win fol-lowing three straight losses to begin 2-4A play. And if the Mustangs had blown this one, it would have been a real killer.

Texas Farmers Union's to host 113th annual state convention

Texas Farmers Union announces the 113th State Convention Jan. 30-31, 2015 at the MCM Elegante, 4250 Ridgemont Drive, Abilene 79606. The opening session of the convention will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. The session will open with committee reports, introduction or a new Pioneer in Agriculture and be followed by a reception.

Roscoe's Stegge represents Region 16 in All Region Band

Josh Stegge, an eighth grade student at Roscoe Collegiate Middle School, represented Roscoe at the Region 16 All Region Band Concert on Saturday, Jan. 24, in Lubbock. This was all done under the auspices of the Association of Texas Small School Bands.
