The Nolan County Heart Walk took place on Saturday, April 18, at Sweetwater High School. This year's route took place in the residential areas around the field house, instead of the high school track. At this year's Heart Walk, there were two Grand Marshals, both of whom serve on the local American Heart Association board and have been directly impacted by cardiovascular concerns â€” Kirk Maberry and Jim Petrie.

Sweetwater High School art students, Abby Lynch, Katie Melendrez, Kendra Pack and Keegan Von Atzigen were recognized at the recent Sweetwater ISD school board meeting.

A proclamation was approved by the Nolan County Commissioners at their meeting held last Monday morning to declare the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The proclamation noted that preventing child abuse is a community-wide effort where solutions can be found by involving everyone.
