Sweetwater kept the hits coming in its District 5-3A softball-opening game with Big Spring here Friday, getting at least one in all seven innings and 15 in all.
But the Lady Mustangs failed to get enough runs to stay with Big Spring. The Lady Steers had just nine hits, but also took advantage of six errors for an 11-7 win at Jerry Collins Complex.
WALL — After a bad start, Sweetwater’s baseball team threatened to pull off a big comeback in the sixth in-ning of Friday’s final non-district game at Wall.
The Mustangs used an error, walk, infield single, groundball out and a double steal to score a couple of runs and cut the Hawks’ lead to 7-4, and back-to-back walks after that loaded the bases.
But a groundball out ended the threat, and Wall then came up with six runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Sweetwater 13-4.

Jason D. Williams will be bringing his energetic style of music to Sweetwater again, Friday, April 13, at the Municipal Auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Hearing Williams and his great piano playing is entertaining in itself, but seeing him live is a whole different experience. This musician gets physically involved in his music. He rarely just sits at the piano, but is usually all around it. That’s why he’s often compared to music legend Jerry Lee Lewis.
