It looks like the Sweet-water and Big Spring girls might be on a collision course to play each other for a third time this season in District 4-3A.
And this time, it would decide which team will ad-vance to the playoffs as the district’s No. 3 seed.
For now, the two squads — who split their first two meetings — are locked in a tie for third place with iden-tical 5-4 records.
Highland will be rep-resented by two teams in the upcoming 2013 basketball playoffs after sweeping a doubleheader with Roscoe on Friday at Highland’s gym.
The Highland girls as-sured themselves of the District 13-A title by win-ning 39-17, as the Lady Hornets improved to 9-0 in district and 26-3 for the season. Roscoe, despite losing, is still in second place in the district (6-3) and needs only to beat last-place Loraine at home on Tuesday to wrap up a playoff berth.
The Highland boys will be in the postseason after edging Roscoe 38-36 in the nightcap of Friday’s doubleheader.
Since their 65-49 victory at Snyder on Jan. 15, the Sweetwater boys basketball team has had trouble not only winning games — the Mustangs had lost four in a row coming into Friday’s rematch — but also putting the ball in the basket.
Even though Sweetwater ended its losing skid against Snyder with a 46-44 win, those troubles continued at Mustang Gym against the Tigers, who’ve won just four of 25 games this season.
Sweetwater led 9-0 before Snyder got on the board, and enjoyed a 13-5 lead in the first minute of the sec-ond quarter.
Sweetwater High School’s varsity tennis team won 14 of 16 matches against Mid-land Greenwood to begin its 2013 spring season here Thursday. The team plays at San Angelo Lake View’s one-day tournament this Friday.

Girls doubles — Gewel Cherry and Brianna Hicks lost 6-8.
Mixed doubles — Isaiah Hernandez and Jenny Medellin won 8-0.
