Three former Sweetwater High School volleyball players have committed to play next year for Cisco Junior College.

A ceremony for the three athletes was held Tuesday at the SHS library.
Three were jailed and four were given community supervision this week after guilty pleas were made to Judge David Hall during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings. District Attorney Ann Reed and Assistant District Attorney Barrett Thomas prosecuted the cases.
The Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED) board of directors approved the sale of real property inside the Sweetwater Business Park during their meeting on Monday morning, December 10, 2012.
Thirty acres will be purchased by Select Energy, while 40 acres will be bought by Washita Valley. Each entity will be paying $4,000 per acre for their property.
The deal with Washita Valley recently took place last week, in which the company is expecting to bring in up to 40 workers.
Sweetwater Independent School District offers Family Access as a way for parents and guardians to keep up with what and how their students are doing at school.
Family Access is a web-based information and communication center designed to provide parents and guardians with the answer to, "How was school today?"
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 36 calls for service, issued one citation and made two arrests on Dec. 11, 2012.

Marble Falls â€” Betty Joyce Parker, formerly of Trent, died Sunday, Dec. 9, at her home in Marble Falls. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Trent First Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Sweetwater High School will honor its 2012 fall sports athletes with a banquet Thursday, Jan. 10 starting at 6 p.m. at the Nolan County Coliseum annex.
Athletes in football, cross country and volleyball will be recognized for their hard work and dedication. Also, Sweetwaterâ€™s cheerleaders and trainers will be intro-duced and thanked for their support. A highlight video will be shown. The Mustang Booster Club will also have a silent auction to support the athletes. Tickets are $12 and available until Monday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. at the high school fieldhouse, and will not be sold at the door.
The Highland and Roscoe girls were the only win-ners among the six Nolan County high school basket-ball teams on Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets are now 13-3 after defeating Guthrie 50-30, while Roscoe (9-5) beat TLCA 55-21.
Sierra Allen led Highland with 17 points while Han-nah Allen also reached double figures with 13 points. Sydny Helbert and Schyler Kimbrell each contributed six points while Madison Moseley and Beth Richburg had four.
Roscoe held a 20-0 lead over San Angelo-based TLCA after the first quarter of play, and continued its dominance over the last three periods as well.
