There are several things Sweetwater must do today vs. Big Spring in order to realize its dream of making the playoffs and ending a long drought, says Lady Mustang coach Al Miller.
“We talked about having low turnovers and managing the game like we’re supposed to. Not letting them have wide-open 3s. Taking care of the ball and giving them one shot on offense.”
If Sweetwater had done a better job in just a couple of those areas the last time the teams played each other, today’s third-place district tiebreaker between two teams with 5-5 records wouldn’t be necessary.
Though they don’t start the playoffs until next week, the Highland and Roscoe girls basketball teams won’t be idle this weekend. Both have scheduled warmup games to prepare them for postseason play.
Highland (10-0 in District 13-A, 27-3) plays Valley at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Jay-ton after ending district with a 67-24 win over Hermleigh while Roscoe (7-3, 18-11) gets a tuneup at 5 p.m. today vs. Zephyr in Zephyr.
Your Friday forecast will be sunny with a high near 61. Winds will be from the east at 10 to 15 mph.
Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 46 and eastern winds remaining at 10 to 15 mph. Gusts could be as high as 20 mph.
Saturday will bring in a chance of rain and high winds throughout the entire weekend. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s with lows ranging from the high 30s to mid 40s.
