SHS falls to AHS in last tuneup

September 24, 2014

ABILENE — Sweetwater High School’s volleyball team made the short trip to Class 6A Abilene High on Tuesday to play its last non-district match of the season, and the 4A Lady Mustangs were swept by the Lady Eagles in three games by scores of 14-25, 17-25 and 17-25.

Commission leaves burn ban off

September 23, 2014

The Nolan County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to leave the countywide burn ban off for at least another two weeks Monday during an otherwise routine meeting.
As precipitation adds up across the county, even local lakes have seen a boost in levels, with Lake Sweetwater gaining a quarter-inch and Oak Creek Reservoir gaining three-eighths of an inch.

Color Dash benefits TSTC Project SAVE program

Sweetwater Rotary Club undefeated

September 23, 2014

The Sweetwater Rotary Club remains undefeated in the field goal challenge for the sixth year in a row against the Snyder Rotary Club. Each year, five members from each club have two chances to kick a field goal before the Sweetwater vs. Snyder football game. This year Sweetwater defeated Snyder 8-5.

Pre-show dinner planned before first APPLAUSE performance

September 23, 2014

There will be a pre-show Broadway Lights Opening Night dinner hosted by Linda Hunter and Millie Lawrence at the Sweetwater Country Club.
APPLAUSE members and interested potential members are invited to attend the dinner. Due to limited seating, RSVP responses must be returned by Thursday, Sept. 25.

Both Sweetwater Middle School eighth grade teams defeated Snyder in football action this past Thursday, while the two Sweetwater seventh grade teams lost.
