While friends and family plan their summer road trips thereâ€™s good news again this week for drivers across the Lone Star State.Â The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Texas is now $3.33, which is five cents less than last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.Â Drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.51, while drivers in Fort Worth are paying the least at $3.27. Drivers in Sweetwater are currently paying $3.29.
A ribbon cutting and open house took place on Thursday, June 14, 2012, for Hendrick Medical Supply to celebrate their Grand Re-Opening.
The medical supply company has expanded their store, with the front of the store now facing Lamar Street, on the corner of Lamar and East Arizona Street near Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
The second public hearing regarding the proposed annexation for property for the incoming Love's Truck Stop was held on Thursday morning, June 14, 2012 during the Sweetwater City Commission meeting at City Hall.
The first meeting was held during the monthly meeting of the city commissioners that occurred on Tuesday morning, June 12. The land is 53.14 acres and is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Hopkins Road and Interstate 20.

The hospital celebrated Certified Nurses Week this week beginning Thursday, June 14.Â Annual NationalÂ Nursing AssistantsÂ Week continues through June 21.
â€œWe at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital have very capable and caring nursesâ€™ aides," said Hospital Administrator Donna Boatright.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 54 calls for service, issued six citations and made no arrests on June 13, 2012.
The SPD received 13, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had eight calls for service, served no civil papers and made two arrests on June 13, 2012.

Funeral services for Eddie John Groff, 39, of Sweetwater are pending with McCoy Funeral Home.
Groff died Tuesday. June 12, 2012, in Wichita, Kan.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has five puppies available for adoption.
Available for adoption is a female mixed breed dog and five sibling Chinese Crested puppies â€” all female â€” that were abandoned at the shelter. According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
