ONCOR recently made a contribution to the Nolan County United Way Campaign.

The burn ban for Nolan County was lifted on Monday morning during the county commissioners' meeting. The lift will remain in effect for the next two weeks or until the next meeting date.
With the recent precipitation that came to the area, it was reported that Roscoe and Blackwell each received about an inch of rainfall by their respective commissioners Terry Willman in Precinct 1 and Tommy White in Precinct 3.
Windpower Engineering and Development, a key component to the first-ever wind technician conference that took place at Texas State Technical College Sweetwater in November, recently donated $4,500 to TSTCâ€™s Wind Technology scholarship fund.
Keith Plantier, Director of Energy Systems for TSTC West Texas said, â€śThis donation to the scholarship fund will allow several students to achieve their dream of working in this booming field.â€ť
One person was jailed after entering two pleas to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday.
Manuel Adames III was sentenced to six years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after he pled true to revoking his probation.
He was originally put on probation for possession of a controlled substance, namely cocaine on Sept. 5, 2003. It was classified as a third degree felony. He was sentenced on Oct. 9, 2007.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 147 calls for service, issued 10 citations and made seven arrests from Jan. 11-13, 2013.
The SPD received 49, 911 calls.

Clara L. Duncan, age 91, of Sweetwater, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Crowley officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Clara was born on Jan. 24, 1921, in Vernon, Texas to Ernest and Elizabeth (Bunker) Keenan. She was a member of the Church of Christ and also worked as a technician for Texas Instruments.
Funeral services for Ola Mae Bunnell, 92, of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Adam Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Bunnell died Friday, Jan. 11, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
The Sweetwater High School varsity girls basketball team, which is 16-10 overall and 2-1 in district play, will play at Snyder at 6:15 p.m. today with the boys game at 7:30.

Sweetwater will be taking on a pair of desperate teams when the Lady Mustangs and Mustangs go to Snyder for a key District 4-3A bas-ketball doubleheader today.
While the Sweetwater and Snyder boys are both 0-1 in district play, Sweetwaterâ€™s girls â€” who will tip off the doubleheader at 6:15 p.m. â€” are 2-1 while Snyder is off to an 0-3 start. The Lady Mustangs need a win to stay on the heels of 4-3A co-leaders Wylie and Green-wod, both 3-0, who have an early showdown in Green-wood today.
