A memorial rodeo and dance will take place this weekend at the Nolan County Coliseum to honor two area men who died in a tragic accident. Nicholas Haden Lee Walker and Jeremy Paul Claxton died this past April after falling into a water well in neighboring Fisher County and being overcome with carbon monoxide.
This rodeo, featuring barrel racing and bullriding, will be honoring and benefiting the families of "two of the most amazing men to ever grace west Texas," according to organizers. "Nicholas Haden Lee Walker and Jeremy Paul Claxton we're known by many and loved by all."
Members of the Sweetwater Dive Team from the Sweetwater Fire Department fished out a trailer that had gone into Lake Sweetwater on Thursday morning.
According to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden, Nolan County Game Warden Jake Simmering called the dive team when a trailer hitch malfunctioned, causing the trailer to go into the lake.
The trailer hitch was misadjusted and the boat on the trailer launched prematurely, taking the trailer with it. The trailer was flipped over and pointed in the opposite direction and had to be turned over and turned around by hand.

Funeral services for Wanda Lee â€śWootieâ€ť Lemmons, 70, of Sweetwater, will be at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. TJ Jackson and Rev. Robert Carey officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Lemmons died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
All three Nolan County high school football teams in action today have tough road assignments as non-district play continues.
Roscoe, meanwhile, has the weekend off as the Plowboys prepare for their district opener on Sept. 28 at Baird.
Sweetwater (2-1) travels to Wall (2-1) for its third Class 3A vs. 2A matchup of the young season.
The West Texas Heat, a 16-under softball team made up of players from Sweetwater and the surrounding area, recently captured the championship of the Labor Day Shootout tournament in Keller. The Heat had a 6-0 record in outscoring opponents 62-3 at the event.
