Ex-Sweetwater High School athlete Alicia Finn will play for the Hardin-Simmons Uni-versity womenâ€™s basketball team this season.
Finn, a 6-0 fresh-man center, twice won first team all-district and second-team all-Big Country honors in basketball at SHS.
HSU opens its season on Nov. 16 by playing Chapman University in Redlands, Calif. The teamâ€™s first home game will be played on Nov. 29 against the University of the Ozarks in Arkansas.

The 2012 Nolan County Health Fair will be on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the TSTC (Texas State Technical College) Fitness Center on the Sweetwater campus.
Over 40 vendors from the area â€” including Sweetwater, Nolan County, Abilene and Snyder â€”Â will be available at the fair.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has one dog available for adoption.
Available for adoption is a female chihuahua mix. According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the National WASP WWII Museum, located at 210 Avenger Field Road.
Sharron Davis is at the museum as the Executive Director and Carol Cain is the Museum Administrator. The museum opened in 2005 and serves as a national point of interest.
A pirate, prairie girl, astronaut, bumble bee,Â firefly, andÂ moreÂ performed in theÂ Costume Recital on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Recently, Sweetwater Choir students auditioned and performed in the TMEA Sixth Grade Honor Choir and the TMEA South Zone All-Region Honor Choir. Their concert was Saturday, Nov. 3, in Clyde.

A few Nolan County girls basketball teams tip off to-day, with Sweetwater and Highland facing each other at Highlandâ€™s gym at 6:30 p.m. A JV game starting at 5 p.m. is also on tap.
Roscoeâ€™s girls host Eula today in their season open-er, with the varsity game at 6:15 p.m. after the JV game at 5. Sweetwaterâ€™s freshman girls also host Midland Christian at 5 p.m. today.

Kiante McCoy, Andrew Melendez, Michael Green, Christopher Thompson and Isak Alvarez scored touch-downs as Sweetwater Red stayed unbeaten at 7-0.
McCoy (60 yards), Green (85 yards), Thompson (20 yards) and Alvarez (15 yards) all had touchdown runs while Melendez caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Thompson. Also, Green had a pair of PAT runs and Kobe Clark one.
