The Colorado City Rotary Club hosts its eighth annual Pat Taylor Memorial Night Golf Tournament and Steak Cookout June 30 at Colorado Cityâ€™s Wolf Creek Golf Links. The entry fee for the four-person ABCD scramble will be $60 per person and includes a steak dinner for players only. Additional dinners may be purchased for $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.
Cart fees are not included in the entry fee. The number of carts are limited so players are encouraged to reserve early.
These students posed for a group picture on the final day of the two-day Roscoe Plowboy Football Camp held last week in Roscoe. The camp for students entering grades 2-9 was taught by Roscoe head coach Jonathan Haseloff and members of Roscoeâ€™s football coaching staff.
A pair of Mustang Baseball Camps were held this past week at Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s baseball field which is located just south of Nolan County Coliseum.
The first session (shown) had campers entering grades 1-5 next school year while the campers in the second session was for campers entering grades 6-9 next school year. Both of the camps were taught by Sweetwater head baseball coach Roland Herrera and members of the Mustang staff.
The Lilâ€™ Bratz league team placed first in league play and also placed first in the Sweetwater Summer Showdown and the district tournament. While friends and family plan their summer road trips thereâ€™s good news again this week for drivers across the Lone Star State.Â The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Texas is now $3.33, which is five cents less than last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.Â Drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.51, while drivers in Fort Worth are paying the least at $3.27. Drivers in Sweetwater are currently paying $3.29.
A ribbon cutting and open house took place on Thursday, June 14, 2012, for Hendrick Medical Supply to celebrate their Grand Re-Opening.
The medical supply company has expanded their store, with the front of the store now facing Lamar Street, on the corner of Lamar and East Arizona Street near Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
The second public hearing regarding the proposed annexation for property for the incoming Love's Truck Stop was held on Thursday morning, June 14, 2012 during the Sweetwater City Commission meeting at City Hall.
The first meeting was held during the monthly meeting of the city commissioners that occurred on Tuesday morning, June 12. The land is 53.14 acres and is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Hopkins Road and Interstate 20.

The hospital celebrated Certified Nurses Week this week beginning Thursday, June 14.Â Annual NationalÂ Nursing AssistantsÂ Week continues through June 21.
â€œWe at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital have very capable and caring nursesâ€™ aides," said Hospital Administrator Donna Boatright.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 54 calls for service, issued six citations and made no arrests on June 13, 2012.
