Graveside services for Ralph W. Porter, Jr., 81, of Nolan, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Slater's Chapel. Rev. Vic Meyer will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Porter died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
He was born June 11, 1931 in Dora, Texas. He married Wanda Curtis on Jan. 27, 1957 in Lovington, NM. Ralph was a member of Nolan Baptist Church.
Elizabeth Dawn (Burnett) McRae, 62, Nolan County native and former Sweetwater High School teacher, was called to her Heavenly Rest Friday, September 14, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Sherman, Texas, while comforted by her daughter, mother, two sisters, and numerous devoted and helpful friends.

BRECKENRIDGE â€” It started out looking like a blowout win for Sweetwater in the first half of its initial road game of the season.
But then it got a little scary in the second half against a Breckenridge team that refused to go down easily.
In the end, however, the Mustangs came up with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to stretch a five-point lead into a 33-14 victory.
Sweetwater â€” which began a three-game road swing that will also include games at Wall this Friday and Brownwood on Sept. 28 before starting district play â€” improved to 2-1, while Breckenridge fell to 0-3.
Blackwell and Highland both won on Friday, while Roscoe is still looking for its first victory of the still-young 2012 season.
Highland (1-2) picked up its first win with a come-from-behind 46-44 road triumph at Loraine. Michael Hydeâ€™s 16-yard touchdown run tied it at 44 with 39 seconds left in the back-and-forth game and Hyde also kicked the PAT, giving Highland a dramatic win after the defense stopped Loraine on its last series.
Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s tennis team won 18 of 19 matches against San Angelo Lake Viewâ€™s junior varsity on Tuesday in its first 2012 fall matches.
Girls doubles â€” Kristen Casto and Jenny Medellin won 8-2; Gewel Cherry and Teresa Perez-Poe won 8-2; Kayla Sage and Vida Gamez won 8-3.
Boys doubles â€” Brian Vause and Stephen Shipp won 8-3; Isaiah Hernandez and Billy Reeves won 8-4; Michael Redondo and Key-gan Valdez won 8-5.
Mixed doubles â€” Mark Butler and Brianna Hicks lost 5-8.
Three Sweetwater Mid-dle School football teams began their 2012 season Thursday at Breckenridge. Their results follow:
Breckenridge 42, 8th grade Red 14
Sweetwater Red scored on a 10-yard touchdown run by Javier Olguin in the third quarter and a 10-yard touchdown run by Hunter Mobley in the fourth quarter. Jacoby Hunt converted the PAT following Mobleyâ€™s run.
On defense, Olguin had a fumble recovery.
The Sweetwater Middle School eighth grade Red volleyball team won all three matches to take first-place honors at the Sweetwater
Middle School tournament held Sept. 8.
Sweetwater defeated Col-orado City 20-25, 25-9, 25-17 in its first tournament match, then defeated Brownwood 25-11, 25-17 and Albany 25-3, 25-2 to capture the championship.
Prior to playing in the tournament, the team lost on Sept. 6 to Wylie 22-25, 15-25. Sweetwater lost to Snyder by scores of 21-25, 23-25 on Sept. 10.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued no citations and made five arrests on Sept. 13, 2012.
