James L. Baxter, age 89, of Rice, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Dallas Veterans Hospital in Dallas.

Joetta Lynn (Fisher) Daniel, 64, passed away peacefully April 26, 2012. Joetta was born on Sept. 13, 1947, in San Antonio, TX to Leola Hartgraves and William Fisher. She had an adventurous childhood throughout West Texas, with her three brothers. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1964. She earned a Bachelorâs degree in English and Grammer from Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, TX. She spent several years teaching high school English and nine years with Sprint Corporation, until 1995 when she became a full time provider for Ashlee Daniel.
GRAHAM â A big reason Sweetwater ended a 15-year softball playoff drought this year was its hitting.
But the Lady Mustangs met their match Saturday, as they were held to two hits by Iowa Park in a 9-0 win that ended their season.
LUBBOCK â Sweetwa-terâs Nick Nemir was fourth in the boys 300-meter hur-dles Saturday after record-ing a time of 39.88 seconds at the Region I-3A track meet which was held at Texas Tech University.
Nemir, the only Sweet-water boys athlete to place, was 1.06 seconds behind second-place Blake Eschbach of Glen Rose. The top two in each event advance to the state track meet May 11-12 in Austin.
Nemir also went to regionals in the 30o hurdles last year but did not make the finals.
