SHS boys regional powerlifters

Sweetwater powerlifters Junior Lawhon (left) and Dylan Jimenez, along with Raymond Delgado and Roscoe’s Ryland Madrid, are competing in regional meets at Sundown this weekend. Lawhon competes in the 198-pound class and Jimenez and Delgado in the 220-pound class Friday at the Division 2 meet, and Madrid will be in the 198-pound class Saturday at the Division 3 meet. The top two regional finishers in each class will advance to compete at the state meet in Abilene on March 28.

S’water football awards banquet to be March 30

Sweetwater High School’s Football Awards Banquet has been rescheduled for March 30 at the Center at Texas State Technical College. Meal tickets will not be sold at the door. However, there will be special seating for those who would like to attend the awards ceremony.

Destination Imagination teams heading to state

Students from Sweetwater Intermediate School recently competed at the Destination Imagination regional competition. The Structural and Scientific teams earned first place and will advance to the state tournament in Dallas.

Deadline set for NCF scholarship applications

Members of the Nolan County Foundation Board of Directors are announcing that this year’s deadline for applying for the annual NCF Golf Classic Scholarship has been set for Friday, May 1, 2015. Each of the four Nolan County high schools has applications available for this year’s graduating seniors.

FORT STOCKTON — Eliza Delgado of Sweetwater will be an alternate to the girls state powerlifting meet after her third-place finish Saturday at the Region 1, Division 2 meet in the 220-plus weight class.

Lady Mustang co-ed volleyball tourney set

March 11, 2015

Sweetwater is planning to hold a first-ever Lady Mustang Co-ed Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at both Sweetwater High School gyms. The cost will be $60 per team. The teams will consist of four to six players, with at least two of them playing at all times and a maximum of eight players. All players must be on the roster to be eligible.
