Sweetwater's football season may be over, but Mustang Bowl will be a busy place this weekend.
The Texas high school playoffs are set to begin and three bi-district games will be played here, including two on Saturday, said Danny Escobar with the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce playoff committee.
The local postseason play starts Friday when Canyon Randall and Lake Dallas meet in a Class 4A, Division II matchup at 7 p.m. Hereford and Denton meet in another Class 4A, Division II contest at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The TSTC Board of Regents appointed Michael L. Reeser as Chancellor of the Texas State Technical College System. Reeser will begin his tenure as the ninth CEO of the TSTC System immediately. âMike has a history of innovative student-focused leadership,â said TSTC Board Chair Rolf Haberecht, Ph.D. âHis passion and boldness will serve the entire system well as TSTC becomes the leader in building the economic vibrancy of Texas by striving to develop the technical competence of all Texans,â added Dr. Haberecht.
Nine Sweetwater Middle School choir students and two Sweetwater High School choir students recently auditioned for and earned a place in the Texas Music Educators Region 16 Honor Choir. Auditions were held in Abilene at Craig Middle School on Oct. 23, 2010. The students will participate in an all day clinic and perform an evening concert on Nov. 20, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Abilene. Participants are from Abilene, Clyde, Snyder, Sweetwater and Wylie schools. The students are directed by Kathy Pogue, SMS choirs, and Melody Squires, SHS choirs.
