Eagle Railcar to expand business

Cholla Petroleum is moving forward on their projects with Nolan County. They requested access to county property near the coliseum and received approval from the county commission at Monday's regular meeting.
Also at the meeting, Sheriff David Warren requested that the Sheriff's Department be able to purchase two new vehicles, from the 2010/2011 budget. Commissioners approved the request.

Many attend TSTC Health Fair

Many area residents attended the TSTC Health Fair on Thursday, Nov.4. Those in attendance were able to have many free tests done and came away with many goodies and information for a healthy life. American Legion to host Veterans Day ceremony

Take the time and thank a veteran.
Veterans Day is a day for remembering how our freedom was given to us. The Roscoe American Legion Post #227, will be having a flag raising ceremony and free breakfast feed, on Thursday, Nov. 11.
According to Donnie Willman, the flag raising ceremony is something that has been done for the past several years. Three years ago, the breakfast feed was started.
"It's about honoring our flag, our veterans and showing patriotism," Willman said.

Court hears one plea

Judge Glen Harrison heard one plea during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday.
Anthony Thomas Lopez pled true to revoking his probation. He was originally put on probation for family violence assault, a third degree felony. He was originally sentenced on July 21, 2009 and was given five years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and had that sentence probated for three years.

Kiwanis Club inducts two new members

Two more members were accepted into the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club.
Nathan Hartkopf and Renee Garcia were inducted as new members on the Wednesday, Nov. 3 meeting.
After the new member induction, Joshuah Ellis presented the program. Ellis is a photographer that moved to Sweetwater in April 2009. He serves as preacher for Avenue B Church of Christ. He took up photography as a hobby, but recently opened his own photography business. He is available for family, children, wedding and engagement photo shoots.
