Texas Theatre to host pictures with Santa

Following the annual Sweetwater Christmas parade scheduled for Monday evening, Dec. 5, Santa will be on hand to pose for pictures with the kids in the lobby of the Texas Theater. This year because of the abundance of personal cell phones and cameras, parents will be allowed to take pictures with their own camera or cell phone camera. A small donation of $5 will be requested to help with the restoration and operation of the Theatre.
Tickets to win an authentic autographed Dallas Cowboy football helmet will also be available. It will be given away on Dec. 19.

NCBR donates to Goodfellows

David Bennett, President of the Nolan County Board of Realtors, presented Ken Becker, Vice President of Sweetwater Goodfellows with a check for $500. Sweetwater Goodfellows provides food and toys to local needy families with children and food to needy individuals during the Christmas season. This Saturday, Dec. 3, Goodfellows will have its annual toy drive at Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last year Sweetwater Goodfellows helped more than 907 individual in Nolan County. Please help the Goodfellows make this year even better.

Reward increased for Most Wanted fugitives from Abilene and Dallas

Two of the fugitives on the Texas 10 Most Wanted lists now have an extra $5,000 in cash added to their reward for the month of December. Your Texas Crime Stoppers tip is guaranteed to be anonymous.
Information leading to the arrest of Jesus Alberto Villegas of Abilene, this month’s featured Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive, will bring tipsters up to $12,500 cash.

Pets in need of homes

Sweetwater Animal Control currently has four pets available for adoption.
One of the adoptable pets is a black and brown female mixed breed dog. Another is a black and white female mixed breed dog. The brown dog available is a male terrier mix and the cat available is a white and orange female long-haired breed. According to Sweetwater's new animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued no citations and made two arrests on Nov. 30, 2011.

The SPD received 18, 911 calls.

Calls for service:
• CPS referral — Sweetwater.
• Burglary of a vehicle — 1500 block of Silas.

Arrested by SPD:
• Male juvenile, 16 — Aggravated sexual assault of a child.
• Romeshia Holder, 22 — Warrant.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had seven calls for service, served one civil paper and made three arrests on Nov. 30, 2011.
