Nolan County receives needed precipitation

Parts of Nolan County received over an inch of rain in the past few days according to a rain report from Saturday, Dec. 3, through Monday, Dec. 5.
Oak Creek received 0.71 inches of rain while Lake Trammell received 1.50 inches of rain and Lake Sweetwater received 1.25 inches of rain.
The filter plant received 0.98 inches of rain and Booster B received 0.62 inches of rain. The wastewater plant saw over an inch of rain with 1.46 inches, as well as Well Field P.S. with 1.40 inches of rain. CR 151 receives 0.75 inches of rain.

Maloney’s Pharmacy to host Chamber Coffee

The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at Maloney Prescription Pharmacy and Ann-G's Gifts, located on 1405 Hailey.
The business is owned and operated by Wayne and Ann-G Chowning, where Ann-G is the on-site manager. Maloney Prescription Pharmacy provides services in prescriptions, Medicare Part B, free delivery on prescriptions and other products in stock, and all insurance cards are accepted including Medicaid and Medicare. Ann-G's Gifts is a full line gift shop which offers free gift wrapping.

Goodfellows gear up for distribution

Members of the Sweetwater Fire Department, Jarrett Knowles, Richard Acuña and Nick Shaw are shown boxing up groceries for Sweetwater Goodfellows that will be distributed to needy families this Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. Last year Sweetwater Goodfellows helped more than 907 individual in Nolan County. Please help the Goodfellows make this year even better. The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 124 calls for service, issued three citations and made six arrests from Dec. 2-4, 2011.

The SPD received 65, 911 calls.

Calls for service:
• Assault — 300 block of E. Third.
• Assault by threat — 1100 block of Mulberry.
• Debit/credit card abuse — Sweetwater.

Arrested by SPD:
• Terry Allen, 36 — Warrant and evading.
• Amanda Welch, 30 — Warrant.
• Angel Diaz, 35 — Warrant.
• James Knox, 43 — Driving while license invalid with previous conviction.
• Fidel Zapata, 41 — Driving while license invalid with previous conviction.
