Kampfer: Hailey may be deceased

A somber conclusion regarding missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn was presented to the media at a press conference held Wednesday morning, March 30 at City Hall.
"Hailey may be deceased," said Pete Kampfer, city manager of Colorado City. He did also state, however, that there was a possibility that Hailey could be under duress or even held against her own will.

Sweetwater Feed to host Spring Fling

Even though the weather may not be proof, spring has definitely sprung, and a seasonal celebration for the whole family is coming up this weekend.
Sweetwater Feed will be hosting their first annual "Spring Fling" Day on Saturday, April 2. It will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 2:00 p.m. at the Sweetwater Feed & Supply building, located at 907 West Broadway.

TxDOT approves super-heavy permits to haul transformers across Texas

AUSTIN—Three long-haul rigs, each loaded with a transformer, are journeying across the state to meet a shipping deadline at the Port of Houston.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) approved super-heavy permits for a Texas company to haul the loads at gross vehicle weights of 510,000, 430,000 and 420,000 pounds. The transformers are headed to Japan to aid in disaster relief in the aftermath of a destructive earthquake and tsunami.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 40 calls for service, issued no citations and made no arrests on March 29, 2011.

The SPD received 17, 911 calls.

Calls for service:
• Family violence assault — 1200 block of Elm.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served one civil paper and made two arrests on March 29, 2011.

• Kevin Alan Rayson, 22 of Sweetwater — Warrant/driving while intoxicated.
