Sweetwater High School UIL district winners qualified for the regional competition and will travel to Texas Tech University on Saturday, April 16, to compete in the regional competition. Dr. Elaine Weidman is the Artist of the Month for April at the County-City Library. She has lived in Sweetwater for over 13 years with her husband, Rick Weidman who teaches at Sweetwater ISD.
Dr. Weidman and her husband originally met in Albuquerque, NM and say that fell in love at first sight. Six months later they were married, and have been married for over 17 years now. Mr. Weidman, mentioned that Dr. Weidman was a former Ms. Alabama in her younger years. Dr. Weidman retired after 35 years from her profession as an anesthetist. She also has her PhD in Health Care Management.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 34 calls for service, issued two citations and made three arrests on April 13, 2011.
