SWEETWATER â The Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Nolan County will conduct a four-part series of small-acreage landowner workshops. The first was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 11 in the Extension Meeting Room on the third floor of the Nolan County Courthouse in Sweetwater.
Other sessions are scheduled for April 26, May 10 and May 24, said Zachary Wilcox, AgriLife Extension agent in Nolan County.
âThese workshops will each have different subject-matter material, but all are geared to the person with a few acres seeking information on what to do with it,â Wilcox said.
The three day mission trip "for the glory of God" led Sweetwater resident and Word of God pastor Dale Stowe â along with missionary Larry Goff â through a "glorious trip" that began on April 1, 2011.
Stowe and Goff went into three areas, including the Mexican cities of Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa, where a majority of the work was done.
Recently some of the members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tied three quilts to send to those in need in Japan. Some of those who participated were Shirley Church, John and Nancy Verschoor, Toby Milani, Christian and Sue Ulbrich, Willie Mae Green, Margaret Bishop and the two missionaries, Elder Durfey and Elder Jacobsen. The quilts will be sent to Salt Lake and then forwarded with other humanitarian supplies from the Church headquarters to Japan.
âTo God Be the Gloryâ was the phrase most uttered at Trinity Baptist Church this past Sunday, April 10, 2011. It was following morning worship this day that the Trinity Church Family broke ground for a much-anticipated Family Life Center. The community is invited to watch the blessings in progress as you travel down Hailey Street in your daily commute. The first signs of construction should be evident soon.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 47 calls for service, issued no citations and made six arrests on April 14, 2011.
The SPD received 26, 911 calls.

⢠Angelica Sims, 21 â City warrant.

⢠Adon Reyna, 34 â Driving while license invalid with previous conviction.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served eight civil papers and made no arrests on April 14, 2011.
