The Roscoe Independent School District will be conducting the 2011 school board trustee election at the Roscoe ISD Cafetorium located at 1201 W. 7th Street, Roscoe, TX 79545 on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Polls will open for election day balloting at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Early absentee voting will be conducted at the Roscoe Independent School District Administration Building, located at 1101 W. 7th St., Roscoe, TX 79545. The first day of early voting is Monday, May 2, 2011 and runs through Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Guadalupana Society of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Sweetwater is having a benefit dance on Saturday, April 30, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Sweetwater. Featuring "Thoze Guyz", a band that members had been playing for about six years.
Band members are Steve Lujan, Esteban Cerda, David Ruiz and Joe Manuel Ramirez. Steve and Esteban had been playing since they were 11 years old, and they live in Sweetwater and the other two members of the band are from Dallas, and San Angelo.
Sweetwater quarterback Terry Clemmer (10, shown) and Roscoe signal caller Jacob Villanueva were two of the many former Nolan County high school football stars who participated in Saturday's games at Mustang Bowl that were sponsored by Texas Alumni Football. Clemmer, a 1994 SHS graduate, led Sweetwater in the evening alumni game against several former stars from Snyder, while Villanueva, who graduated from Roscoe just two years ago, quarterbacked the Plowboys in an afternoon game against Roby's alumni team.
The Board of Directors of Roscoe State Bank announced the promotion of Kristie Fox to Vice President/Executive Secretary. Kristie joined the bank on January 13, 2000 and has worked in multiple positions throughout the bank. She has served as John Jay's Executive Secretary during the time she has been employed.
