Members of the Nolan County Foundation Board are pleased to announce the awarding of thirty $1,000 scholarships to Spring 2011 Nolan County high school graduates. In making the announcement, NCF President Jerry Riggs noted that this year's recipients have increased the total number of awardees to 136 since the Scholarship Golf Classic was started seven years ago.
This year's golf classic was named in honor of one of the NCF founders Jere Lawrence. One of Jere's projects for the NCF was assisting Nolan County high school graduates to attend any Texas college or university.
Nolan County Sheriff's Office is conducting an extensive search for a missing person in southern Nolan County. Several agencies are involved in the search, including Texas DPS (including helicopter), TDCJ Canine Unit, Blackwell Volunteer Fire Department and a host of volunteers.
The Third Grade students at Southeast Elementary were honored with a TAKS Pep Rally before the students took the third grade Math and Reading TAKS test. The faculty and staff of Southeast performed original cheers and skits for the third graders and were given a school-wide cheer and send off as they prepared to take the TAKS test.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 65 calls for service, issued five citations and made 12 arrests from May 14-15, 2011.
The SPD received 12, 911 calls.

• Male juvenile, 12 — Criminal mischief.
