Six people entered pleas to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday.
The WASP Museumâs personal grilling crew, Fifiâs-Flyer French-Fryers, will be serving cheeseburgers and home-made french fries from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the WASP Museum, which is located at Avenger Field, west of Sweetwater. The grilling crew will be on the west side of Hangar One and the public is invited to enjoy old-fashioned cheeseburgers with regular fries or the specialty sweet-potato fries. âWe started preparing sweet potatoes last year at some of our tailgate parties and they went twice as fast as the regular fries,â explains Jo Henderson, one of the grill crew.
A 40-year-old Blackwell man was found alive after surviving nearly six days without food or water following his disappearance from his familyâs ranch home located nearly six miles north-northwest of Blackwell, Texas. Doyle Lee Parsons was last seen around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 187 calls for service, issued 26 citations and made 15 arrests from May 20-22, 2011.

One person was killed in a motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon at 6:33 p.m. in Nolan County. The crash was on Interstate 20 mile marker 237 in the westbound lane.
Deceased was Gerome Cloyd Black, 79 years of age from Andrews, Texas. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:25 p.m. by Nolan County Judge Tim Fambrough. The body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Petty Officer Thomas Trujillo with the United States Naval Reserves recently visited Sweetwater Elksâ Lodge #1257 on his âWalk Across Americaâ. He is the President and Founder of the nonprofit One Soldiers Dream. He started a walk across the United States on February 1, 2011 at the Santa Monica Pier in California, and his destination is Washington, DC. He is doing this walk to get the nonprofitâs name out to the national public as quickly as possible.

Chicago--The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that the City of Sweetwater, Texas has received the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.
Ryan Mercer was commended for qualifying for state competition in boysâ golf. Pictured (from L to R) are SHS Boysâ Golf Coach Steve Mercer, Candy Mercer, state qualifier Ryan Mercer and SHS Athletic Director Craig Slaughter. Three other SHS students were recognized at the Sweetwater ISD School Board Meeting with resolutions honoring them for their state qualifying accomplishments. Though not in attendance, SHS girlsâ track member Jayci Shelton was honored for her accomplishment in qualifying for state competition.
The Sweetwater Independent School District (SISD) Board of Trustees met for its regular session meeting on Monday evening, May 16 at Sweetwater High School (SHS) in "The Hub" conference room.
Several presentations were made to open the meeting, including a variety of resolutions, a robotic demonstration and the recognition of a departing board member.
