On June 11, 2011, students from Team Chip Tae Kwon Do Sweetwater tested for promotion in rank.
The City Commission met for a brief meeting on Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, 2011 at City Hall.
The only action item on the agenda was for the first reading of an Ordinance fixing and levying the rate of 48 cents per $100 valuation, which was approved to be adopted. Two public hearings were held on the matter before today's action, and it was noted that the tax rate has seen no change in the past six years.
The final reading will now take place at the next city meeting slated for Tuesday morning, Sept. 13.
Mustang Moms will be holding a Tailgate Party before the football game against Vernon on Friday, Aug. 26, from 5:30-6:20 p.m. During this time, Little Mustangs will be able to pick up their Adopt-a-Mustang t-shirt and picture button. Juice pouches, chips and snacks will be handed out along with t-shirts and buttons. Mustang Moms are asking that the Little Mustangs show up at the track parking lot promptly at 5:30 p.m. as there are 44 t-shirts and buttons to be passed out.
On Monday, Sept. 12, afternoon television in the Big Country will get a lot more local when KTAB launches KTAB 4u. Hosted by KTABâ€™s Alex Hayes, KTAB 4u is a 30-minute locally produced lifestyle program that will focus on womenâ€™s issues.
â€śI canâ€™t tell you how many times local businesses have asked to be interviewed. KTAB 4 will give us an opportunity to interview local businesses which in turn will give them the chance to communicate to the local consumers in a way that has not been done before in the Big Country,â€ť said KTAB General Manager Eric Thomas.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 61 calls for service, issued two citations and made two arrests on Aug. 23, 2011.
The SPD received 22, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 14 calls for service, served 11 civil papers and made four arrests on Aug. 23, 2011.
