Nolan County 4-H held their annual banquet to honor members and adults for their participation in 4-H for the 2010-2011 year. Shown are Nolan County 4-H students honored at the banquet. The SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) Board of Trustees met for a special-called meeting on Tuesday evening, Aug. 30, 2011 at the Administration Building.
The brief meeting took place to offer a public hearing regarding the 2011-2012 budget, though no one was in attendance to offer input.
If you're looking for something fun to do in town this Labor Day weekend, an event sponsored by a group of local churches might be the ticket.
The Roman Catholic Churches of Nolan County will be hosting the 2011 Jamaica Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church beginning at noon until 9 p.m.
Live entertainment will be presented throughout the day with hour-long performances starting at 2:15 p.m. with local Mexican folk dancer Aida Pantoja. Grupo Silverio will take the stage at 3:30 p.m., with Prodigio following at 4:45 p.m.
New Texas traffic, criminal laws are set to go into effect today, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.
Below is a list of selected changes to traffic and criminal statutes. Unless otherwise listed, all laws below take effect Sept. 1, 2011. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all new laws passed by the Texas Legislature.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 48 calls for service, issued two citations and made three arrests on Aug. 30, 2011.
