A funeral service was held for retired Sweetwater firefighter Loyd Levens on Thursday. On the way to Sweetwater Cemetery, Loyd got to take his final ride in Sweetwater's newest fire truck and was honored by Sweetwater firefighters. On Oct. 23, 1952, Loyd moved to Sweetwater and went to work for the Sweetwater Fire Department. After 29 years, he retired in 1981. â€œLoyd Levens was a fireman who retired before I was out of high school but was a great fireman and nice guy," said Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden. "I had the privilege of helping him after a fall and had met him a few other times.
The Women's Resource Center in Sweetwater recently received a large donation of many items for infants.
Every holiday, the youth at First Baptist Church in Roscoe participate in a community service project. This year, church member and Women's Resource Center volunteer Gaynell Harrell suggested that the students donate to the center.
Members of the Nolan County Foundation Board recently announced the awarding of $1,000 to Goodfellows. In making the announcement and presenting agency representative Ken Becker this assistance, Jerry Riggs, President of the NCF, stressed the importance of supporting worthwhile agencies as they serve vital needs for Nolan County residents. Riggs also stated that the NCF will be identifying other special needs and giving additional financial assistance in the near future. Serving the NCF board with Riggs are Glenn Bennett, Ronnie Cox, Bill Johnson, Rod Wetsel, Ronald Williams, J.V.
The search for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn from Colorado City continues.
According to a news release Wednesday afternoon, the Task Force, consisting of 12 law enforcement agencies, is continuing the search efforts for the teenage girl. Hailey was reported missing by her mother, Billie Jean Dunn, on Dec. 28, and she was last seen by Shawn Adkins, Dunn's boyfriend, on Dec. 27.

Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Sparky Dean wanted to make it clear there's still noÂ one or twoÂ suspects in the case.Â He says there are numerous people being looked at and interviewed.Â He says developments are "still unfolding."

Artist Jim Price from Abilene has his drawings currently on display at the County-City Library in Sweetwater. Price is 74 and works at Ludlum Measurements here in town. Price started in the 1980s working with oil painting on canvas, experimenting mostly with just landscapes and water sceneries.
Approximately 15 years later, he explored into the pencil and paper portrait drawing. Never having any lessons, he taught himself how to draw pencil portraits.

It has been 15 days since the disappearance of Colorado City girl Hailey Darlene Dunn.
On Dec. 28, 2010 at approximately 2 p.m., 13 year old Hailey Darlene Dunn was reported missing by her mother Billie Jean Dunn.Â According to this initial report, Hailey was last seen on Dec. 27, 2010 by her mother's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.
