With a great headliner, great sponsors and wonderful donors, this yearâ€™s 42nd annual West Texas Rehabilitation Centerâ€™s telethon promises to be the best yet. At seven oâ€™clock on Jan. 21, new comer Sunny Sweeney will step into the spotlight at REHAB 2012.
Suddenlink Communications is the official sponsor and as they have for many years Area-Wide Phone Books is also helping underwrite the show. The Host Hotel for the Telethon is the MCM Elegante Suites. Telethon auction support is provided by NTS Communications.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 118 calls for service, issued 10 citations and made 13 arrests from Dec. 16-18, 2011.
The SPD received 48, 911 calls.

The Sweetwater High School and Sweetwater Middle School bands performed in a concert for the public on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011. Many were in attendance to watch the bands perform many holiday favorites.

The Sweetwater Jaycees have hooked up with Santa Claus again this year and will host a Santa call in on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. Numbers to call will be 325-236-5814 and 325-236-5812.

Donations to the 30th annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive have been phenomenal and tens of thousands of families in the Ark-La-Tex will receive food this year from the effort.
The food drive is sponsored by Brookshire Grocery Company stores, along with many service organizations, food pantries, school groups and other businesses and volunteers.
Southeast Elementary School first graders put on quite a Christmas show, â€śThe Littlest Christmas Tree,â€ť with many of the students in costumes with speaking and singing parts. Many attended the play at the Sweetwater High School Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.
