EQIP ranking period ends soon

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) District Conservationist Mandi M. Ligon reminds agriculture producers that the ranking period cut-off date for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is Feb. 3, 2012. Producers interested in EQIP should submit applications to the Nolan County NRCS office by the deadline so their applications can be considered during the first ranking period of 2012.

Nolan County Livestock Show begins Tuesday

The Nolan County Livestock Show will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 through Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. The schedule of events is as follows.
Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012
5-7 p.m. — Steers and Heifers Weigh-In
Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012
1-7 p.m. — Swine Weigh-In
4-7 p.m. — All Other Animals Weigh-In
6 p.m. — Steer Show
Heifer Show following Steer Show
Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012
4 p.m. — Goat Show
Lamb Show following Goat Show
5 p.m. — Rabbit Show
Broiler Show following Rabbits
Broiler Show following Rabbit Show
Friday, Jan. 20, 2012
3:30 p.m. — Swine Show
Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012

SISD celebrates School Board Recognition Month

Texans benefit every day from the tireless work and countless hours dedicated by a group of more than 7,300 men and women in communities across the state. These public servants are elected to serve by local constituents and receive no compensation for their efforts. These men and women are the school board members of Texas. January is School Board Recognition Month and Sweetwater ISD will take this opportunity to thank these local leaders for devoting time to support public education and serve our local schools.
