TSTC Police Department receives vehicle from DA’s office

The Texas State Technical College Police Department in Sweetwater recently purchased a 2009 Ford Police Interceptor. The vehicle was provided by the Nolan County 32nd Judicial District Attorney's Office and was purchased utilizing drug seizure funds. TSTC Police Chief Mike Keller reported, "On behalf of the entire TSTC Police Department, I would like to personally thank District Attorney Ann Reed for her valuable contribution to our department."

Adopt-a-Mustang a successful new program

Gretchen Jones, one of the Mustang Moms in charge of Adopt a Mustang, was presented with a check for $500 after winning the Star Dodge Tailgate Party during the first week of football season.
"I just want to thank everyone who voted for us in the online contest that resulted in this donation to Blowout. I hope the community will keep trying to win the Tailgate Party so we have this opportunity to win this donation every year," Jones said.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 42 calls for service, issued two citations and made two arrests on Jan. 4, 2012.

The SPD received 29, 911 calls.

• 500 block of W. Broadway.

Calls for service:
• Leaving child in a vehicle — 400 block of NE Georgia.
• Criminal trespass — Coral Cove.
• Burglary of a vehicle — 1400 block of Grand.
• Burglary of a vehicle — 1400 block of Grand.

Arrested by SPD:
• Justin Spencer, 30 — Driving while intoxicated.
