Nolan County cities Roscoe and Sweetwater are members of Texas Midwest Community Network. The organization hosts the 19th Annual Texas Midwest Conference, Oct. 17, at the Abilene Civic Center. The conference will offer solutions for challenges communities face today and in the future.
Lexie Perez, a senior at Sweetwater High School, auditioned on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, and made the TMEA All-Region Honor Choir. She will represent Sweetwater High School in the Region Concert on Nov. 10 in Lubbock.
She claimed eighth chair which also earned her the right to continue to the next level. She will audition for the next round, Pre-Area, on Nov. 9.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Roscoe Fire Department will be wearing pink department shirts all month. "One of our family members is recovering from breast cancer, so we want everyone to know that we support her and everyone effected by the disease," said Roscoe VFD Chief Gary Armstrong.

With the November 6 general election just about a month away, various deadlines are now coming into play. The last day to register to vote for the November election is today, Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
The first day of early voting will be Monday, October 22 in the County Clerk's office--located at the Nolan County Courthouse (100 East Third), Suite 108--from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last day of early voting is Friday, November 2.
The deadline for applying for a ballot by mail--to be received, not postmarked--is on Tuesday, October 30.
The 2012 Roscoe Mum Night Royalty were crowned Friday, Oct. 5, 2012. Band Beau and Sweetheart were Tito Arce and Crystal Luna (shown).
Other nominees were Antonio Gallegos and Ashton Payne, and Juan Sanchez and Jacinda Cedillo. Escorts were Sam Wilson and Taylor Reed.
Crowned as Football Beau and Sweetheart were Jose Rangel and Torrey Willman. Other Nominees were Landon Jones and Faith Boren and Eduardo Gallegos and Alura Renteria.
Escorts were Branson Beal and Daisy Talamantez.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 127 calls for service, issued three citations and made 12 arrests from Oct. 5-7, 2012.
The SPD received 66, 911 calls.

Expect mostly sunny skies and much warmer temperatures on Tuesday, with a high near 88. Winds will be from the southwest at around 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Tonight, we'll see increasing clouds with a low around 50. South-southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph will become northern after midnight.
