BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married. We have a baby, then another, and we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough, and we'll be more content, when they are. After that, we are frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with and certainly we will be happy, when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete, when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire.
If anyone is looking for a way to celebrate the holiday season, your search can come to an end. This Sunday night, December 16 at 6 p.m., the worship choir from the First Baptist Church (FBC) in Sweetwater will be presenting a Christmas program at their church entitled “A Christmas Prayer”.
The musical was arranged and orchestrated by J. Daniel Smith, while the drama portion of the program was written by Matt Tullos. David Woods, the minister of music at FBC, said that the program combines the two elements in sharing the story of Phillip Galloway, the main character.
Enjoy a Hollywood performer in Sweetwater on Saturday night at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium where award-winning pianist and contemporary artist, Kristine Mirelle, will perform live with the Sweetwater Municipal band.
A Roswell, New Mexico native, Mirelle describes her music as an infusion of swing, classical, hip hop and soul. What started out with singing on doorsteps and playing the piano in the homes of people who would allow her, has turned into a career in Hollywood performing, singing and song writing.
As Christmas nears, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) is helping local families document this year’s holiday by hosting “An Afternoon with Santa”. Taking place on Saturday, Dec. 15, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy cookies and have a free photo taken with Santa Claus.
A Christmas Celebration with Santa Claus will be held at the Texas Theatre from Dec. 14-16 in Sweetwater.
"Help fix the 'broken spirit of Christmas' by joining us in this narrated Vaudeville production which will captivate you as each world class performer participates in revitalizing the Christmas spirit," said event organizers.
Among the talents presented will be an NBA halftime performer of the tight wire, Rolla Bolla, juggling, a hula hoop star, comedy, aerial acts and chair balancing.
