The primary election is coming up on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, with several dates and changes to announce prior to the voting day.
The last day to register to vote was on April 30; however, voters can begin to request a ballot by mail. The last day for the County Clerk to receive applications to vote by mail is on Tuesday, May 22.
On April 18, 2012, at 400 Oak Street in Abilene, Taylor Room (414) at noon, the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board recognized 10 child care providers, at their April Board meeting, as having achieved Texas Rising Star (TRS) Provider status within the past year. A TRS Provider serves Texas Workforce Commission-subsidized children and voluntarily offers quality care that exceeds the State's Minimum Child Care Licensing Standards in areas such as health and safety, group size, child/staff ratios, caregiver training and age-appropriate curricula and activities.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 39 calls for service, issued five citations and made four arrests on May 2, 2012.
The SPD received seven, 911 calls.
