The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) invites citizens to attend a public meeting about a project to rehabilitate Lamar Street (BS 70-G) on Tuesday, July 24, from 1-8 p.m. in the administration classroom at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital at 200 E. Arizona Avenue in Sweetwater.
The proposed project would improve Lamar Street from Avenue B to I-20. Work would include rehabilitating the existing roadway with new base, asphalt pavement, sidewalks, signs and pavement markings. Plans call for the project to be built in phases with one side of Lamar Street closed at a time.

Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Diabetic Outreach recently offered free diabetic and cholesterol screenings to the public at Mt. Rose Baptist Church, located at 108 Hubbard Street on Wednesday, July 18. Blood pressure checks were also provided.

Three months into his tenure as Sweetwater High School’s new head football coach and athletic director, the hiring of Shane Mobley’s coaching staff is complete.
In addition to Mobley, there will be six new faces on the sidelines this fall.Also, three new coaches have been hired at Sweetwater Middle School.
Zach Harrell and John Ward came on board as the new offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively, not long after Mobley was named to replace Craig Slaughter in mid-April.
