Johnny Williams, with attorney, Britt Thurman, pled true to revoking his probation. He was originally put on probation on Oct. 19, 2009, for forgery, a state jail felony. For his plea, Williams received 24 months confinement in the State Jail Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He will also have to pay a $1,500 fine, $305 in court costs and $1,000 in attorneys fees.
The Big Country Medical Reserve Corps is offering a Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training Class on Saturday, Aug. 25, beginning at 9 a.m. in the training room located by the Emergency Room entrance at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.Â The class will be free of charge to those that register and is open to the public.Â Refreshments will be served and lunch can be purchased from the hospital cafeteria.
A Nolan County Grand Jury indicted 12 people on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012. Eight of those indictments were sealed. The following cases were true-billed:
Anthony Dylan Bentley was indicted on three counts including sexual assault, a second degree felony, indecency with a child by contact, a second degree felony and indecency with a child by exposure, a third degree felony. The victim was younger than 17 years old at the time of the crimes around Feb. 1, 2012. His bond was set at $25,000.
The Nolan County United Way's Loyal Contributors Luncheon was held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) training classroom.
Following the convocation by Martin Baker, a welcome was given by Executive Director Wendy Smartt. Beverly Campbell then introduced the officers and members of the Board of Directors.
Kirby Andrews, one of the board members, collectively thanked the hospital's food staff, along with those in attendance representing the agencies and contributors for their work and support over the past year.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 55 calls for service, issued three citations and made one arrest on Aug. 21, 2012.
The SPD received 17, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 11 calls for service, served no civil papers and made two arrests on Aug. 21, 2012.
