Residents, staff, family and volunteers of Nolan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center were treated to an Elvis concert, to celebrate Elvis' Birthday Month.
Harvey McFadden has been entertaining as a Elvis tribute artist for 12 years. This was Harvey's fifth performance at Nolan Nursing.
Harvey will beÂ participating in Abilene for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo in September for three nights. He enjoys entertaining seniors in the Big Country.

The purpose of the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department Family Planning Program is to make available to citizens of the State who are of childbearing age comprehensive medical knowledge, assistance and services relating to the planning of families". The purpose of family planning is to provide women and men a means by which they decide for themselves the number, timing and spacing of their children.
Texas State Technical College announced that 20 members of its faculty and staff received the TSTC Chancellorâ€™s Excellence Award. Eight employees from TSTC West Texas earned the award this year. The TSTC Chancellorâ€™s Award for Excellence was established to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of faculty and staff who serve the students of TSTC and the communities of Texas, those whose demonstrated commitment to excellence makes a difference in the lives of others.
Kane Peavy of Roscoe, a student at Roscoe Collegiate High School, has been nominated to represent Texas as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2013 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.
Peavy has been awarded the opportunity to join a select group of 250 students from across the country to participate in an intensive week-long study of journalism and media. Peavy was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 42 calls for service, issued two citations and made one arrest on Jan. 29, 2013.
The SPD received 21, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 12 calls for service, served no civil papers and made one arrest on Jan. 29, 2013.

6 tablespoons butter (divided)
1/4 cup flour
4 cups chicken stock
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 large onion, small chopped
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 large carrot, small chopped
1 to 2 large avocado, chopped
1 bell pepper chopped (any color green, yellow and red)
5 jalapeĂ±os, seeded and chopped
Melt 3 tbsp. butter in a skillet over low heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot and bell pepper.Â SautĂ© for about 5 minutes or until tender.Â Set aside.
Sweetwater Principles of Business class, taught by Jaime Ince, visited First Financial Bank for a tour of the bank facilities.
The students went to the bank to gain a better understanding of what goes on in a bank and all the different departments within the banking industry.
The Nolan County United Way (NCUW) is committed to serving local entities with a yearly campaign. This year's focus is "Give Where You Live".
This year, one company has done just that. First Financial Bank recently gave a large donation to Nolan County United Way, more than doubling last year's donation made by the bank, according to Nolan County United Way Executive Director Wendy Smartt.
According to FFB President and CEO Kirby Andrews, the donations made are completely employee-driven. "We have a really caring bunch of employees."
