Troy Ray Jennings was sentenced to eight years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Wednesday morning, January 9, in the 32nd Judicial District Court.
A day prior to his sentencing, a seven-woman, five-man jury found Jennings guilty of failure to comply as a sex offender on Tuesday, January 8.
According to court documents, Jennings failed to report his change of employment, which is required for registration with local law enforcement, due to a reportable conviction of aggravated sexual assault. The offense was reported as occurring on May 10, 2011.
During the Sweetwater City Commission meeting on Tuesday morning, January 8, 2013, Coe Construction was awarded the bid for the construction of a new dining room and offices for the SNAP (Senior Nutrition Activities Program) building.
The bids were opened during the December 2012 meeting, but were reviewed in detail leading up to the January meeting. John Voller, the city engineer from Enprotec/Hibbs and Todd, recommended the low bid of Coe Construction--with the base bid of $366,000--and reviewed its two deductions of $48,000 and $100,000.
Construction began yesterday to remove the battered slanted wall of the facility. The Nolan County Commissioners approved a contract with McGlothlin Construction at their Dec. 10, 2012 meeting.
Once the slanted wall is removed from around the entire courthouse, the county hopes to proceed and move forward with their architect on further construction.
