The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department will be giving free blood glucose tests from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the health department, located at 301 E. 12th Street. Information pamphlets will be available on diabetes. The event is sponsored by the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Diabetic Outreach Program.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting for Rolling Plains RV and Mr. Câ€™s Asphalt Maintenance at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at 9909 1-20 (on south side of I-20 between exits 240 and 242).

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) District Conservationist Mandi Ligon announces applications for funding opportunities with the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) are currently being accepted at the NRCS offices located at 103 West Florida.
The Sweetwater Goodfellows are currently seeking businesses, organizations or individuals interested in setting up a table at the annual Goodfellows Christmas party with Santa.
A total of 10 tables will be set up at the hour-long event and those in charge of the table are asked to bring something for the children to enjoy. "In the past we have had a table with balloons, one with snacks. It does not have to be anything big, just something to give to the children attending the party," says Goodfellows President Billy Johnston. "Some ideas may include coloring books or Santa hats."
Several Sweetwater High School (SHS) and Sweetwater Middle School (SMS) students made the TMEA (Texas Music Educators' Association) South Zone Honor Choir and performed in a concert on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Clyde. Students from SMS include Emma Foust, Megan Dean, Anastasia White, Max Rodriguez, Lauren Browning, Aubrey Delacruz and Taiden Smith, along with SHS student Martin Morini.
The Sweetwater Fire Department was recently awarded with a grant from Georgia-Pacific.
"Inspired by the efforts of our nation's firefighters â€” including the many Georgia-Pacific employees serving their communities as volunteer firefighters â€” we have tapped into the inspirational history of firefighting to create the Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigadeâ„¢," said Georgia-Pacific officials.

The Sweetwater High School Theatre Department will be performing Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - with a twist. In Marley and Scrooge's Christmas Carol, the audience will experience the story from Marley's point of view.
The cast is made up of elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as past SHS graduates. The show will be performed Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium.
A matinee performance will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. This event is open to the public.
