Bealls is spreading a little holiday cheer while giving back to the community this festive season through the sale of their holiday themed â€˜Bears that Careâ€™ plush bears to benefit Toys for Tots. The plush brown and tan bears, adorned with a satin ribbon, retail for $6.98 and from now until Dec. 24, Stage Stores Inc., the parent company of Bealls, will donate $1 from the sale of each bear to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Bears are available for purchase in-stores and online.
Many recently entered pleas during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings.
Ricky Lee Rodriguez pleaded guilty to evading arrest with a prior conviction, a state jail felony. Rodriguez was sentenced to one year confinement in the State Jail Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $348 in court costs and $500 in attorney's fees. He will receive 66 days credit towards his sentence for time already served in jail.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for TJB Outdoors, located at 1500 Lamar. Ted Basye, his wife Amy, and their sons Ty, Jordan, and Jon are pictured center along with community and Chamber of Commerce members.
TJB Outdoors officially opened Nov. 29, and had their grand opening celebration this past Saturday. Ted and his sons decided to open their new store in May of this year.
After his success at the Medicine Place, Ted decided to expand the business. TJB Outdoors offers shooting ranges and equipment for hunters.
Sweetwater High School (SHS) art students painted Christmas trees to decorate the entrance into the high school auditorium. The artwork was created by (in no particular order) Mark Lawrence, Savannah Hall, Zoe Yutong, Ricardo Alvarado, Peyton Moore, Victoria Carley, Megan Davis, Maddie Berry, Morgan Whitley and Kayla Wofford.
SIS (Sweetwater Intermediate School) principal Kirk Stroman expressed his gratitude to the art students saying, "The artwork was well received by all those who attended the SIS play Tuesday evening. Thanks for helping make our school family feel welcomed."
